John Joins Envato!

John B. Marine | 12:35 AM | | Be the first to comment!
On October 1, 2019; I joined @Envato! I feel a lot like #Envato has a lot of material I could contribute to. It may also be my best outlet for building a portfolio outside of my JohnMarineDesigns Weebly site. So I will use this time to discuss joining Envato and why I am doing so. I also have a little announcement to share in this blog post, so stay tuned for that!

Before I Begin...

WHOA! I haven't updated "John's Creative Space" in almost four months? Sorry to keep you fans of this blog this blog rarely updated!

John Joins Envato!

Allow me to talk about Envato and why I joined this service.

What is Envato?

Envato is an Australian company where people buy and sell digital goods. Such goods include music, graphic designs, videos, 3D models, coding/programming, and more. This company was founded in 2006 and is based in Melborne, Victoria, Australia. As of the time of this post, Envato Market has had over 55M items sold and has earned over $760M USD in earnings. So Envato is a highly successful marketplace for all sorts of digital goods. Some people sell their creative digital goods on Envato but may also sell elsewhere. Some others, though, market exclusively through Envato. So while you may see some creative work work promoted on other websites, their marketing medium is usually Envato.

If you want extra insight on Envato, take a look at this video:

^ The Envato Story | Inside Envato

[Some of] Envato's Services.

Just like Google, one account on Envato opens you to all of their services. I say there are various services I feel I can contribute to. Here are some of the many...

• AudioJungle - AudioJungle is the service where people provide stock music. Usually, a lot of the music is corporate stock music used in applications ranging from business videos to YouTube videos. Some online video have AudioJungle songs used as background music. The easiest way to tell a song from AudioJungle is used is when you hear the "AudioJungle" watermark during the course of songs or videos. All AudioJungle material are all royalty-free stock music. If you want an example of a song on AudioJungle with the watermark playing at times, here is a sample song from one video I saw once:

^ Pinkzebra "Larger Than Life" feat. Benji Jackson - Upbeat Song for Videos

• GraphicRiver - GraphicRiver is used in the distribution of graphic designs. These range from logos to presentation slides to gaming assets. This site covers lots of ground.

• 3DOcean - The 3D model marketplace on Envato is 3DOcean. Various 3D models are offered here.

These are among some of the many products offered by Envato.

Why I Joined Envato.

I joined Envato after doing some research. I felt most of what I want to create mostly is along the lines of what Envato has to offer. I felt the desire to financially profit from my work and offer quality work to the world. A lot of you probably know I find great importance in offering creative content as a means of escape. Along with that, I am hopeful I can offer creative material to profit with. I found Envato to be a fairly interesting ecosystem to be a part of. All that was left for me, then, was to take that plunge and motivate myself to make content that I'm sure can benefit any number of individuals.

I also took the inspiration to join Envato when I saw that a number of game developers and game asset providers sell their content on Envato. While sites themselves may market their material on their websites, they sell a lot of their material mostly on sites like Envato. That was extra motivation for me to join this service. I'm too cheap to set up a proper store, so I decided to join Envato to sell my creative content.

Having said this, I'd like to share something. Check it...

Special Announcement!

I would like to announce that as I join Envato, I am planning to finally release my voxel model cars among various other assets I've created. I feel so much like Envato is an environment for which I can get the most exposure and perhaps profit best. I haven't earned ANYTHING for my paid Turbosquid content. So therefore, I feel my work on Envato can help me not only get some exposure, but also finally profit from my work and offer some quality.

Another announcement I want to share is that I will also consider uploading my voxel characters. I might re-work my voxel characters or leave them static. I haven't decided what I want to do there just yet. Of course, I will let you know my final decision on my voxel characters in the future.

Through the Envato ecosystem, these voxel assets would fall under the 3DOcean service.

For More Information...

To learn more about Envato and its services, visit envato.com. I also wanted to include a link to my profile on Envato, but I am unable to. I guess you have specific profiles showcasing all of your content you have uploaded to Envato on different services. If I find some other method to this, I will update this blog post with extra links.

Hopefully this will get me in the mood to design material and profit from it. I will keep you posted, as always. Thank you for reading! Take care and be well.

5 Years of John's Creative Space!

John B. Marine | 7:57 AM | | Be the first to comment!
This post marks five years of "John's Creative Space!" My creative works blog has seen a lot in its five years of existence. I created "John's Creative Space" to showcase my creative work amd thoughts on creativity. While I feel I can do a lot more to keep this blog active, I think I have done just enough to keep it at least relevant. What has really held me back is trying to develop more content for the world to enjoy. I am always learning and practicing in regards to creative content. I publish my material here in this blog as well as on my "JohnMarineDesigns" site.

So what does the future hold for my work? Earlier this year, I purchased a mixed media drawing tablet. I hope to use it to sketch out designs. Of late, I have been practicing making vector people with Inkscape. I don't have the finances to use programs like Abobe After Effects. So I am looking for other methods to try to enhance my appeal with doing vector graphic characters and such. I want to also make more material available for download and/or sale. I not only want to share content, but I also want to profit from it. And you know my voxel material I have made through MagicaVoxel? Yeah- I still can release that material though I have mostly have been unable to provide those assets years since sharing them. There is a lot I can actually offer that hasn't really had their time in the spotlight. It is something I hope I can change in the future.

Whether this is your first time here or if you are a returning visitor, thank you so much for checking out my content! It means a lot to provide so much to all of you. I will need to try to gain some momentum that eventually will lead to making more content available more often. Be sure to look around on "John's Creative Space" to see all available work. If there is something of mine you like and wish to download or buy, and if it isn't currently available to share; please contact me, and I may make arrangements to offer my material for download and/or share. If you generally enjoy my work and want to offer support, feel free to do so by making donations to me through PayPal. The "Donate" button in my posts and pages actually work! So offer your support that way if you so incline.

Just to say one last time, thank you for even caring about my work. I don't know what I would really do with my life if I didn't choose to offer creative work to the masses. I have blogged for a long time. While I have not truly achieved greatness, I have done just enough to at least be relevant. I can do a lot more, though, to grow and maintain success. At least I know I have a world of individuals who support me and my work regardless. And for that, I am forever grateful. Believe me- I am FAR from done. My creativity and spirit are too strong to call it quits any time soon.

Thank you for reading "John's Creative Space" for now five years! Take care and be well.

Creativity for Good

John B. Marine | 12:36 PM | | Be the first to comment!
Creativity is good; benevolent creativity is better. In light of recent tragedies and such, I feel we must use our creative energy and works to offer peaceful distractions from horrible news events. Maybe even offer hope and positivity. Incidents such as the recent mass shooting at an Orlando gay nightclub or the deaths of famous persons should be enough to get some of us creative types to make material to help make others feel better and offer peaceful distractions.

I am someone who believes in offering positive change and hope. While I do love making material to publish online, I also believe in offering material I feel will help people feel better about themselves and life. Offering peaceful and positive material is one thing I enjoy about making creative work. I know that my work will make someone feel happy and intrigued as a distraction from some of the most depressing news stories and incidents. Such works can offer something pleasant to enjoy. While certain creative works will not solve the world's problems or society's problems, at least certain creative works can help bring us all together and show solidarity. What makes creating these creative works fun is that we are able to offer distractions in the wake of different horrific incidents and moments in our lives. Especially fun and positive creative works provide some welcome comfort and something positive to think about in the wake of some of the worst tragedies or most depressing incidents.

If you are any kind of entity that produces creative material, my recommendation to you as you are reading this blog post is to offer creative works that can help ease pain and tension that we all face in day-to-day life. Let us, as creative works types, use our creativity to service for the greater good and for viable causes. Full credit to those who already use their creativity for benevolence. You don't have to be sponsored by some organization, lead some organization, or contribute to some organization to show your benevolence or contribute to charitable acts. Just offer fun and enjoyable material to help make peoples' lives better. What you can offer is based on what you believe in and what you feel you can contribute to try to make others feel better. You can simply make a song or make some kind of digital art offering positive messages or something really funny. While you are at it, you may want to be careful with some topics. Someone could take something lighthearted and take it out of context or convey a message different from what you are trying to say that is supposed to be helpful, funny, or positive. So be careful but still provide some great creative work for all to enjoy.

In other words, let us use our creativity to make this world a happier and fun place. Let us all have fun making creative works that will offer positivity and fun in this negative world and negative society. It is the least we can do to market ourselves while also making ourselves better people by offering great content for others.

My condolences go out to the various lives we've lost recently either from certain health issues or victims of violence or terrorism. I hope you enjoyed this brief blog post. Stay tuned to "John's Creative Space" for more creative works of mine and commentary in regards to creative work. Thank you for reading! Take care and be well.

One Year of John's Creative Space

John B. Marine | 1:00 AM | Be the first to comment!
"John's Creative Space" is one year old today! One year? That quickly? Wow. Anyhow, JCS has been my outlet of expressing my creative works while also using it to discuss various other media topics. It became the new "red blog" as I ditched one of my past blogs that last was the "red blog"- "John's Shop Space. Funny enough, I still don't think I've really have been able to use and utilize "John's Creative Space." There are still a number of things I haven't yet introduced to JCS that I want to in the future.

I feel that "John's Creative Space" would not have been so visited and respected if I didn't start introducing my voxel artwork, and especially if I didn't mention MagicaVoxel. This blog needed a good amount of time to grow. It was a blog that needed some sort of spark to get going and to evolve. I especially attribute this blog's growth based primarily on people adoring my voxel artwork that I've mostly shared on Facebook and Twitter. I think it was Twitter that got me a good bit more exposure and attention as far as voxel art is concerned. I am always trying to look for new ways to expand my skills and my talents. My only problem, however, is that I am not as productive as I could be. What I could complete in just a few hours can take days to weeks.

My interests shift a lot. As a one-person entity in media, my interests and energies go in a number of directions. I may try out voxel art at one point and then decide to try pixel art. I may concentrate on art and then go towards making music. Also, I want to try to make applications and perhaps even a game. My interests are everywhere. With some people interested in using my material in their projects, I just think you'll have to be patient with me since I'm all over the map in the media realm. I do appreciate the attention I've gotten, especially from credible and loyal people. I will have to try to work better with others in hopes of profiting from my work while also serving the greater good of digital media. So that is the sort of challenge I am taking on mostly as a freelancer.

Thank all of you who have supported and respected my work so far. I hope to make this blog even more successful in the future.

To everyone who found "John's Creative Space" and enjoyed my work, thank you very much. I will try to showcase more of my work as well as also use "John's Creative Space" to express more than just my own creative works. I want this ride to continue and hopefully meet more people who may enjoy my work. Until next time, thank you for reading! Take care and be well.

Request Address

John B. Marine | 9:13 PM | Be the first to comment!
Recent requests about my voxel art and in others requesting clearance for my models to be used has led me to create this blog post. I want to address a few issues in regards to my creative work being used and for requests thereof. It brings me great pleasure that there are those interested in my work. As much as I have used this blog to offer my creative work mostly for fun, I realize there may be some people who may be interested in some of my creative work to where they may want to use my work in projects. Either that, or I create some material that I hope may be used in games or other sorts of media projects. Either way, I am willing to address these concerns with this blog post here on "John's Creative Space." This post concerns future plans of mine, including possibly entering the freelance realm for assets I've created to be used in various applications.

BEFORE I BEGIN...

If you have ANY suggestions for me in regards to what I am about to discuss and the different nuances you are about to read, PLEASE contact me via E-Mail or through some other medium so I can be more confident in the subject matter involved.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who have seen my voxel artwork and decided to want to ask if I do any extra work or if my work can be used in other projects. I have to say that I am glad my work has been to the liking of others. I needed something to get my creative work across. I needed something to get "John's Creative Space" across. Ultimately, my work has led me to being recognized for my voxel art mostly on Twitter. I've done everything on a hobbyist level while also having a degree of professionalism and responsibility. A majority of the work I do is done to the best of my ability. Often times, the perfectionist in me wants to try to make something just a bit better before releasing it online; and sometimes, already-released work I want to get rid of just to... you guessed it- improve on it some more before releasing again. In addition to my voxel art, I want to try to also delve into pixel art and vector art. The goals there are to offer game assets that I hope will one day find themselves into games and media projects. Some work of mine will be purely exclusive, but I do feel I can offer assets people can use and utilize in a number of applications.

I do want to say that I will surely offer my work to others to be used. However, I would also like to financially profit from my work. I surely want both myself and people involved to both be happy. What I may decide to do is offer my assets online for a price. I certainly want to make prices reasonable and affordable. I will consider several different avenues to allow for my work to be featured as well as offer items for sale. Since voxel art is one of those avenues, I am considering TurboSquid to offer my 3D assets for sale. On the front of being hired or doing any contract work for game developers or others, it is honestly something I have never engaged in. Life in itself is a learning experience. I am sure anything I get engaged with will be something new for me. "John's Creative Space" IS my portfolio, though I may seek a more proper portfolio for my work in the future. I may need to have more experience to really consider myself a true freelancer in a number of departments.

Should I get seriously involved in something along the lines of contract work or being available for hire, you are going to need to be very patient with me, as I've never done any of this before. I am not educated in offering my creative work for a price or in calculating hours of work, estimating hours it takes to complete my work, calculating expenses, offering reasonable rates for my work, legal considerations, or anything like that. I have no traditional 9-to-5 job outside of the usual work I do in publishing content online. I don't even work on a certain budget because I am often times very cheap in doing my work. Despite being cheap, I try to make the most of what resources I do have. I honestly have never worked for anyone before. So I am not as experienced at trying to complete certain projects within a certain timeframe or trying to completely satisfy a client with my work. All of these things make for a brand new experience that I will likely learn to adjust to new challenges put in front of me.

With all of this said... thanks to all of you for your cooperation. If you have any suggestions for me to maybe not feel as crazy or skittish about trying to be someone to offer for hire for media projects or games, please be sure to comment on this post or send me a message or E-Mail online. I am more of a blogger by trade more than I am even remotely close to any freelancer in any field of media (art, music, etc.). I do, however, enjoy and take on the challenge of offering other material outside of my blogging.

In the future, I will be sure to share material with all of you to where you can check out my various assets. I will try to offer material that I am sure people will want to use and utilize. Links will be provided here in my blog and elsewhere. I want to thank everyone again for your interest in my work. If you have any questions or comments, contact me online with the different links and resources I've provided. Thank you for reading! Take care and be well.
