Embracing Writing

John B. Marine | 6:10 PM | | | Be the first to comment!
Reading and writing were never one of my strongest talents. Despite this, I have made everything digitally from replies on websites to blogging for more than 15 years. I am more into art and music creatively. You don't have to enjoy something to be good at it. Like, I am not going to share with you my favorite writers or my all-time favorite books because I have never considered myself a good book reader or any fanatic of literature. Having said all of this, though, I do still have a remote interest in writing. I normally don't like using the term "writing" when my work is nearly 100% digital. Like, you only "write" when you use a pencil or pen and paper. You're typing when you are doing digital writing like I am with this blog post.

The reason why I haven't really gotten into doing literature more is because I don't enjoy literature as much as I do art or music. I also want to produce more art leading towards providing any literary content eventually to compliment it. Or maybe I have been more of a blogger than an author. Either way, I feel I should probably better utilize something I don't truly consider a talent of mine. I do think I have had a bit more fun utilizing certain literature techniques. For one, I admit I've taken on more in regards to poetic techniques and even alliteration. I have produced eBooks before, and a lot of times, I want to make more. I just never had the energy to make more. Maybe that will change in the future should I adopt and embrace doing more writing.

eBook Announcement...

I have come to the decision to suspend sale of my "Proof Posi+ve" eBook on Amazon. I instead have included more platforms for which to get my "Proof Posi+ive" books through Draft2Digital. The reason why I have suspended my Amazon sales of my eBook is because I haven't found a proper medium for which to receive payments on Amazon.

I now have been able to offer my eBooks on some new services- namely 24 Symbols for now. I am also trying to get my eBooks to be sold on Tolino and Playster. Find my eBooks either by looking at the eBook section of my sidebars, or you can visit my eBook Store on JMDesigns.

Thank all of you for supporting my work and interacting with my work!

Should I make more content available for purchase/download in regards to literature, I will fill you in proper. Thank you for reading! Take care and be well.

Project Defiant

John B. Marine | 5:54 PM | | | Be the first to comment!
Project Defiant is the codename for my ambitious eBook project. Previously, I made two eBooks as part of my "Proof Posi+ive" series- both nonfiction. This other eBook project is ambitious for many reasons. For one, this is a fictional piece of mine. I will tell you more about this project I am working on.

About the Label: Projects

Blog posts in this category relate to certain projects I am working on. They will fall under certain names and do not entirely represent the final product when finished, if projects are indeed finished.

Project Defiant

Here is a look at the basics of this eBook fiction I am working on.

Basic Overview.

A young male bored with masculine fashion plans to try a new sort of lifestyle. He decides to try wearing feminine clothes and try to live life as a male in feminine clothing. His journey and his adventures lead him to many different changes in perception and in acceptance. He finds out more about himself, and perhaps also take on new responsibilities and new perceptions. All the while, he begins to take on a new personality and has new thoughts about himself and the world around him. How far can his experiences go?

The "Ambitious" Elements.

I feel like this is an ambitious project because it involves elements much different from what I normally would focus on. For one, a few LGBT-style references are exhibited. I also have introduced romantic and seductive elements. Needless to say, this one will not be as friendly to all audiences. However, if I am going to express these elements, I am going to do it smartly and not casually swear on a constant basis. I am also not going to casually throw around seductive references just to remind you that this is not some not-safe-for-work piece of literature.

Inspirations.

The main inspiration is in the beauty of male androgyny. The protagonist of my story is an androgynous male who is (to quote from the LGBT realm) passable, or the ability to be perceived as a member of one gender as opposed to the one assigned at birth. I have no actual inspirations. It's more just fantasy.

Conversely, you could say that the beauty of the male body being as enticing as even the most seductive females is a major inspiration to this project. This project of mine does have some LGBT elements to it, but this is not meant to be exclusively LGBT literature.

Now that you know about some of my project, let me explain a little progress.

Project Defiant: Progress (as of February 14, 2018)

When I looked at my previous two eBooks, I noticed I have typed more than 50K characters for my work. My novel currently is at about 63K characters. I am carefully planning my story. I seem more interested in trying to piece together individual experiences rather than properly structure a story from beginning to conclusion. Formal writing is not my forte. So I am somewhat casual with putting the story together. I am doing things like limiting contractions, avoiding double negatives, and stuff like that.

I may want to try to provide further details of my work on Patreon, including some details too good to share in a blog post or even in a free post on my Pateron page. Even if just to revive my Patreon page, I'll do what I can to share some extra details about my work. Want to contribute to my work through Patreon? Here's your invitation:

Once I complete my project (or if I do), I will surely share my work with you all to enjoy. Thank you for reading! Take care and be well.

Proof Positive (or Proof Posi+ive)

John B. Marine | 1:00 AM | | | Be the first to comment!
As a first-time eBook author, Proof Positive is my first eBook and first eBook series. It is a self-help series where I offer advice concerning various general issues along with advice to help produce and boost positivity. This blog post here will fill you in with more information about this project of mine. You will get a lot more insight on me coming up with this series and what it is all about. Welcome to "John's Creative Space!"

Oh, and what do you know... this is *officially* my 50th post on "John's Creative Space!" Welcome to my golden (50th) post on this blog!

The "Proof Positive" Series

Let me tell you more about this eBook series I created. But first, here is a picture to help identify this post...

Proof Positive John Marine
^ from: www.amazon.com - .

The "Proof Positive" series (styled as "Proof Posi+ive") is an eBook project I started in trying to offer positive and encouraging thoughts to help people be and feel more positive about life and society. My method of offering advice is to provide a snapshot of a certain situation and then try to offer advice to help people deal with the certain issue and become stronger. I feel offering calming words and speaking with passion are ways to help people feel better. My hope is to motivate and encourage others with my advice to certain life issues. While Proof Positive is a self-help series, I also want to make things interesting by featuring self-help on certain issues outside of living life. For example, I was considering installments in regards to sports and sports fans. I want to mix things up a little bit while not losing focus of the main matter of Proof Positive.

Because I mention a bunch of life issues in my main blog, I feel the need to maximize the usefulness of my advice by creating an eBook. I take my blogging experience to try to create something people can access and (hopefully) profit from my work. I feel I could reach out to more people and feel like I am offering a service by making eBooks. I feel you can put more powerful content in an eBook than most blog posts (and even most videos) have. In the early development of my first eBook, most of my time was spent trying to learn how to make an eBook. This took away from me concentrating on making actual content. In fact, I actually spent more time trying to practice making eBooks before trying to actually make one. I even went as far as to purchase an Amazon Kindle eReader to practice and test my eBook on a Kindle (let alone a proper eReader). So this has been the work of about three or so months before eventually releasing my first ever eBook.

When I made my first eBook from an ODT text file in LibreOffice, my manuscript came out to 14,425 words using 80.426 characters. Now that I released my first eBook, I have the confidence to make more. I found a suitable workflow I can use to make eBooks quicker (content notwithstanding). A big part of this creation of an eBook was thanks to a program called Alkinea. Alkinea is a beta program used in the creation of EPUB and MOBI format eBooks taking ODT text files made using either OpenOffice or LibreOffice.

Timeline of Events.

Here are a few highlights of mine in making and releasing my first eBook (as of December 15, 2015):

• September 11, 2015 - made a folder dedicated to eBooks; includes sample eBooks as well as test material
• [circa] October 29, 2015 - made first practice eBook focusing exclusively on HTML coding
• [circa] November 27, 2015 - made second practice eBook, code named "Tormenta"
• [circa] December 9, 2015 - made third practice eBook, using a program called Alkinea, used actual eBook project made in LibreOffice
• December 11, 2015 - released first eBook on Amazon, later to other services with Draft2Digital; uploaded EPUB version of eBook
• December 13, 2015 - first sale of eBook on Amazon

To be honest, I actually was supposed to release my work on December 10; but since it was getting late when I submitted my work in the early morning hours, I settled for that Friday afternoon to release my work and do all the different editing to get my work live. Once I released my eBook, I felt accomplished. I was all on social media and such promoting my work from sites that took my work live online. You can imagine how proud I was of everything.

Here is a look at my first eBook and its content...

Proof Positive: Happy Beginnings.

Here is the description I offered for this eBook:

"Our lives and society are ripe with negativity. With so much negative in our lives, it can be tough to think positively. Proof Positive by John B. Marine is a supplement to help people think about things to be positive about. It is a collection of basic thoughts as well as advice to common and uncommon life issues. The Proof Positive series will take on a number of individual topics. The first installment, "Happy Beginnings" looks at positivity and negativity in general, and it also focuses in on basic thoughts and items to help people begin to think positively. All thoughts are expressed on a personal, passionate, and calming level in plain English. It is time to defeat negativity in our lives and in society with positivity and positive thinking."

This installment of Proof Positive is about starting out trying to think positively and starting out generating positivity. I focus on a few basic things people can think about to be positive about right now. All of the material featured are all mostly different snapshots of life coupled with my advice to help people deal with certain issues. Do not expect a masterpiece of formal writing and literary awesomeness, but I do offer my own thoughts on a personal level and from a standpoint only I feel I can provide.

Future installments will feature a number of thoughts to help people out with a number of other issues. As of December 15, 2015; I am working on my next installment of the Proof Positive series. The first book in the series is on providing positive insight on a few basic things. The next installment (and you read this first!) has to do with making yourself positive as well as discuss matters of being self-positive. The issues basically relate to certain things that circulate in our mind in trying to be happy and positive. I will be sure to further elaborate on the next installment once it goes live online.

For a Fee?

Because I feel I can better benefit offering eBooks for a fee, I can only provide only so much a preview for all of you. I don't want to spoil too many fine details in any of my blogs. I feel that the amount of content I provide and the sort of professionalism I consider in building this eBook series is of great quality. To be honest, I am actually working on this as a business outlet. When I wanted to build a game for the OUYA and for Android devices, I had in mind making some paid material. I have only so much to try to make any sort of material.

Just know that when I create something for sale, you can be assured I've given my best effort and that it will have value. I would never release anything I felt did not have any sort of value or usefulness to it. That is my philosophy with blog posts, and the same goes for any sort of paid content I consider. So you definitely have my word that my material is of exceptional quality and something I am proud to release and share.

Want to Use Resources?

Here are some resources I used in the creation of my eBook:

LibreOffice - used in making an ODT text file
Alkinea - makes eBooks straight from ODT files in EPUB; free for personal and commercial eBooks
KindleGen - used to convert EPUB to Amazon's MOBI format; use with Alkinea to generate EPUB and MOBI copies
Sigil - free program useful for editing
Calibre - free program useful for editing, especially for adding metadata and refining EPUB, also manages eBooks.
FBReader - a very good eBook app for PC and Android mobile devices. To me, it is the most accurate as far as eBook apps are concerned.

Good luck to any of you who are aspiring eBook authors.

eBook Projects

John B. Marine | 6:33 PM | | Be the first to comment!
My ambition to make eBooks was expressed here on "John's Creative Space" and even in "John's Blog Space." This blog post here on JCS offers a look at some projects I am working on or considering in making eBooks. This is a chance for you to see what concepts I am working on or may consider in the future. I will also share some thoughts on the eBook process and how I am going about it. Any loyal readers that may want to offer suggestions or something are free to comment.

About the Label: eBooks

Anything eBook (or e-Book) related will be featured in these blog posts. These include both some of my own work and even eBooks in general.

eBook Projects: General Thoughts

The eBook allure lies in making material more detailed. As a blogger, I feel some material may be better suited towards blog posts and videos; however, some material would be better suited in an eBook. Not to mention being able to financially profit from your work. A number of eBook authors offer their work for free. Some others feel they can financially profit from their work, so they offer their eBooks for a certain price. To say one makes a financial living on charging their work for a fee can basically mean someone cares more about making money than expressing oneself. I certainly don't want to carry that mentality in some peoples' minds. But in a way, this is still a business at the end of the day, so people often have to take a business approach to things.

Having said all of this, here is a chance for me to share with you some projects I am working on or considering for when I seriously try to make eBooks. But before I share my project ideas, I want to give you a little background.

eBook Projects: My Considerations.

An important aspect in publishing anything is to consider your audience and what you want to target. There are different kinds of eBooks catering to different audiences. Most of my work will mostly be of the average text variety. So if you prefer eBooks that you can read on your e-Reader device or in an eBook app, that is what I am mainly targeting. I am taking most of my blogging style and offering it to the realm of eBooks. I look at eBook development kind of like making blog posts, only that

Because I intend to sell some of my work online, I am mostly targeting EPUB eBooks as well as the proprietary MOBI format for Amazon Kindle readers. I actually want to get a Kindle eReader for testing purposes. I mostly want to get the basic Kindle e-Reader, though I wouldn't mind having the more popular Kindle Paperwhite. The reason why I want to get the Kindle readers is so I can properly test my eBooks with the Kindle devices. None of the other Kindle devices (such as the Fire series) interest me at all. I don't need all of the extra functionality of those devices since I am only trying to make eBooks.

eBook Projects: Challenges.

The biggest challenge (or fear) I face is in my eBooks not coming out properly. Most of my process is in trying to find a proper workflow to where I am most confident developing eBooks and putting them together. This is why I presently haven't made anything as of yet. I am basically using Notepad++ to develop my HTML pages from scratch to make eBooks. I have various programs capable of managing and developing eBooks- Sigil, Calibre, and even Mobipocket Creator. I am still learning as I go in trying to make eBooks. However, I feel confident enough in my work that I may finally develop something amazing for an eBook.

Despite my optimism, I feel I can only do so much until I get myself an eBook reader. I am mostly fixated on getting an Amazon Kindle reader. Just a base Kindle reader will do for me, even though I wouldn't mind getting the more popular and better favored Amazon Kindle Paperwhite.

Now on to the more important bits.

eBook Projects: Projects Explained

Here is a look at some of the material I have planned. Official names or any other media will be undisclosed until the proper material has been announced and released. Some of the projects described in this section may or may not actually be released.

eBook Project: Life Issues and Advice.

When I first considered making an eBook, one of the first topics I wanted to focus on were on life issues. I tried to build it all at once, but I then thought it would probably be better if I made this a series. This eBook project features a variety of different life issues I thought of and want to offer advice about. It is not definitive advice, but it is at least my own take on things. The reason why I am considering this is because I feel the lives we live are full of negativity and hate. I want to be able to offer something positive to read. Certain personal issues are also featured for insight. Basically... this is a self-help deal based on personal experiences and personal thoughts.

eBook Project: Gaming Thoughts.

This project I haven't started on offers thoughts of mine regarding various aspects of video and computer games. Here is a sample topic- what do I think about people regarding graphics and sound more than actual game play? What do I REALLY think about the independent/indie gaming scene? This is about the same sort of project as the one you just read about. Only difference is that I focus my thoughts on certain aspects of gaming. In one way, it would be silly to offer an eBook on something like gaming when I could probably post certain material in a blog post or something. Conversely, it is better to compile various thoughts on one certain category into an eBook and offer deep details that no blog post or video can express.

eBook Project: YouTube Thoughts.

From my YouTube experiences, I have learned many things and have had many thoughts on simply being a YouTuber. Honest feelings and thoughts are the primary focus of this eBook project. I haven't come up with any draft, but I do feel a bit like there are some honest feelings concerning why I haven't exactly enjoyed very much making videos and interacting with YouTubers. I will express some of those thoughts if I do make an eBook about this topic.

eBook Project: (a comic eBook?)

Could I possibly attempt making a comic-type eBook? I actually was thinking of making comic-style videos for YouTube, but I may consider something similar for an eBook. This will require that I design a bunch of images and put them together into a comic style eBook. The first book I ever bought as an eBook was a comic-style eBook- "I Am Pusheen the Cat." That was basically a series of images to make up an eBook. So I basically know it is possible to come up with an eBook consisting of a bunch of images put together into a book. Would I make one? It's possible. Nothing right away comes to mind as any comic project.

eBook Project: (a Mature or Adult-Oriented project?)

Never am I known to try something totally ambitious. I think I am too much of a nice guy to want to try making material laden with raunchy and explicit material. However... it is a thought I [surprisingly] might entertain. The best reason to consider a project like this would be to show the broad range of one's material. You know, basically to try to offer something to different audiences. It is much the same way you have movies rated by the Motion Picture Association of America with "G" that the an entire family can enjoy, and then you have those movies rated "R" Rated movies. Even worse are those rated "NC-17" by the MPAA that are even raunchier than R-rated movies.

So what is meant by "mature" or "Adult-Oriented?" It could range anything from profoundly violent and offensive material, or it may even involve raunchy romantic and sexy material. I don't have anything planned for this. I may, may not, or may never attempt to make something that I think far exceeds what a general audience would consider too extreme for normal reading.

You now have an idea of some of the different eBook projects I am either working on or considering. I am not sure if there are any topics that could I could possibly take into consideration as far as topics or categories people feel I can take on in making an eBook.

Amazon Kindle Readers (Bonus Section!)

As a way of saying thanks to you for reading this post and to speak of the Kindle readers, why not treat yourself to one if you're an eBook reader? The Kindle Fire and stuff personally don't interest me. So I'm with the e-Reader Kindles. Have a look at these and feel free to take a further look at these if interested:

Feel free to support me and my work any way you can. I thank you for it. Also... happy shopping! :)

I may attempt any number of different projects if I get on some kind of roll creating eBooks. I may even think of certain other projects outside of these mentioned here. Just remember that I will try to push my material. I hope you can support my work any way you can. I will surely announce my material to you all and where you can get it when I do publish material. Thank you for reading! Take care and be well.

eBooks

John B. Marine | 8:15 PM | Be the first to comment!
From my main blog, I have expressed interest in making eBooks recently. I have done a little literature here on "John's Creative Space" before, but never any eBooks. Will you support my work if I make eBooks? This blog post is an opinion-based post regarding my desire to try to make eBooks.

I have been blogging for perhaps a decade. My blogging has been done on Myspace even before Blogger/Blogspot. There is a certain science to designing blog posts such as this one. When it comes to doing eBooks, however, this is a different monster. I think an eBook requires a different level of attention and focus apart from blog posts. A lot of eBooks are offered for free, but many people offer their eBooks for sale on services such as Smashwords, Lulu, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iBooks, and more.

Likenesses of Blogging and eBooks.

Allow me to discuss these two items as a blogger.

Both blogging and eBooks are the same in terms of speaking your mind and expressing yourself any way you please. At least anyone who takes blogging seriously knows the importance of expressing oneself through the means of typing stuff up. Same goes with eBooks. When it comes to making eBooks, you have to express points in a cleaner way than with blog posts. You also have to present material in a way that people will care about it and maybe even justify paying good money for your work.

I am not saying that blogging lacks professionalism, I am just saying that making an eBook is a bit more professional. You have to build your eBook more like a real book with a cover and chapters and such. These are more professional pieces that require a little extra attention to detail than usual. You can offer your eBook work for free, or you can offer your work for a fee. Then again, that's how a lot of freelancers operate with various works.

What Will You See with my eBook Work?

Expect some of the same sort of commentary served up the way I usually do. I will try to bring my opinionated work to the light in my own special way while making sure to express myself as best as possible. The various works I may create can range from personal material to certain entertainment pieces. Regardless, I know what I am trying to do in trying to create material I am hopeful people can find enjoyment in. If you like my blogging, I'm sure you'll find something to love with my eBook work.

Free or Fee?

Most important to me is speaking my mind and offering something to others. While I do want to financially profit from my work, I care more about offering a service and my voice rather than feel like ripping people off. People are going to spend more time with an eBook than with a blog post. An eBook is going to have to offer material that is deeper and richer than most blog posts. People are probably going to download and use your eBook more likely than maybe saving HTML or text copies of your blog posts. So in my view as a publisher, it is probably best to capitalize on your work by making and selling an eBook for profit. I will charge a good bit of my eBook work for a fee, mostly because of the level of importance and detail I think eBooks offer. And believe me- I wouldn't charge anything for any of my work if I didn't feel there was a certain level of importance and opportunity in making eBooks.

Since I never made an eBook prior to this blog post, I'll offer something for free just to make test eBooks. Maybe spread it around and get some reaction. I also will need to make a habit of having devices at the ready to test eBooks on various devices. Once I get a general feel for designing eBooks, I will become a bit more serious and more aggressively offer and create material to sell online. So until I create more proper material warranting for a fee, I will mostly offer material for free.

My eBooks and JCS.

I will probably use JCS to offer some ideas on any book projects I may be working on. Ideas may fall under project names and explained further in individual posts. Those posts may later be updated if I release a proper eBook. The title of the blog post may also change to reflect the name of my eBook(s).

My eBooks and Social Media.

If you feel there are topics you may want to see me try to cover in blog posts or eBooks, then please let me know. I may be able to come up with something interesting if I like your idea(s).

If you want to read more about my eBook ambitions, check out this blog post in my main blog: "John's Corner: eBooks?" (John's Blog Space).

Be sure to stay with my blogging work to see my latest material when they all become available. I hope you all are able to help support my work all the further. You will see bits of my work scattered across my blogs for you to download. So be sure to check out the sidebars, certain links, and stuff like that to see my work being offered to you. Thank you for reading! Take care and be well.

Top Diva 3: Sydney's Sweetheart

John B. Marine | 8:52 PM | | | Be the first to comment!
Tournament three of "Top Diva" is highlighted here. The past two tournaments have offered their own insanity as young women from around the world battled to become Grand Champion. This third tournament promises to be deep and intense. A deeper and diverse field was assembled as the prospect of becoming Grand Champion is a goal each of the finalists of Top Diva's 3rd Tournament want to accomplish.

This blog post is a look at the third tournament of my "Top Diva" series.

--- Introducing "Top Diva" ---

In case you don't know about this series, let me share with you the story behind Top Diva before moving onto me introducing you to the 2nd Tournament.

"Top Diva" was a fighting game concept I had inspired mostly by all-female fighting game series such as Asuka 120% and the Variable Geo series. It is a fighting tournament more in the sense of the Street Fighter games more than the ever-popular mixed-martial arts fighting of today. "Top Diva" and its storyline branches out in many different ways.

The concept was to be a set of characters as well as stages made with the very popular PC fighting game engine M.U.G.E.N.. I only went as far as to mostly create some here-and-there bitmaps of certain characters as well as plan out palette combinations. No characters or stages from Top Diva were ever successfully created.

Here are more details about my concept...

Inspirations.

The fighting inspirations come from various all-female fighting games as well as the Street Fighter series. When I came up with this idea, I wasn't thinking of supernatural powers or anything. I instead wanted this to be more straight up punches and kicks. So you could also say that the Virtua Fighter series is an inspiration. The characters themselves aren't based on any real people. Some of the characters wear certain fashions that I just wanted to showcase the diverse array of characters. The concept of an all-female fighting realm is nothing new if you are aware of game series such as the "Asuka 120%" series and the "Variable Geo" series among others.

To add personality and provide something different, I tried to mix up the different personalities. Some people mostly only focused on making the women as seductive as possible or only focus on what many people would consider attractive women. What I did was try to spread around different personalities. Besides slim and slender women, some of the characters may be curvy women or even petites. Some of the women are total girly-girls in looks and personality, and some others are tomboyish in appearance and personality. You can think of it as stirring the pot and offering loads of diversity.

Considering I am a male who came up with a concept of an all-female story, one would probably think I'd appeal to just about every heterosexual male's fantasies about women. However, I mixed things up. The various personalities represent a broad variety of people instead of only focusing on sexy women or what most people would consider attractive.

As of this initial blog post, I did not have a logo in mind. I may feature it in a future edit.

The General Storyline of "Top Diva."

The tournament known as "Top Diva" basically seeks for some of the strongest women in the world. The age threshold was for females to be between the ages of 18 and 30. Tournaments held showcased women from around the world wanting to have a chance at becoming the Grand Champion. Women who competed in this tournament competed hard. Many didn't make the final cut but still enjoyed their experience to the fullest. Some others, however, felt jealous of the finalists and formed certain factions and gangs to attack the eventual finalists of each Top Diva tournament. Everyone who competed in the tournament risked and sacrificed many things to realize the goal of becoming champion of the tournament- including their health, their jobs, their friends and family, and even their relationships and motherhood.

Because this was mostly a game concept, there is no real "winner" of any of the tournaments. It was mostly designed for the player to determine who was the best by picking someone and beating the others in the tournament.

Especially for the first tournament, I had thought of certain boss characters that aided in trying to sabotage the tournaments.

Time now to get into the main stories.

Top Diva 3: Sydney's Sweetheart.

A third Top Diva tournament was established. The field used to be 10. There are now 12 finalists. As the name of this tournament implies, the winner of this tournament gains "unworldly fame" by winning her own mansion in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia; and she also acquires many items to make her famous in the fabulous city of Sydney. Every championship round is played out in the fictional Diva City.

Top Diva 3: Characters.

After all the qualifying, these 12 became finalists of the third Top Diva tournament:

• Paradise Chavez - recent High School graduate from Laguna Beach, CA, USA.
• Xiomara Luna - a ballerina and ballet instructor from San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
• Charmaine Wilson - a college student and bakery owner from St. Louis, MO, USA.
• Sayuri Hitomiyo - a geisha from Osaka, Japan.
• Denise Weatherby - the first-ever lesbian Top Diva finalist. Born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
• Carlotta Castiglione - former party girl and former wild teen from Milan, Italy.
• Annabelle Chavez - recording artist and model from El Paso, TX, USA.
• Kenosha Parker - a college student from Chicago, IL, USA.
• Trisha Taylor - a lounge music recording artist from Trenton, NJ, USA.
• Natalia Müller - an aspiring trance music producer and DJ from Cologne, Germany.
• Daine Eboka - a Tae Kwon Do champion from Nairobi, Kenya.
• Christine Johnson - a college student from Little Rock, Arkansas. Qualified, but retired.

Again, there is no character who emerged and challenged the tournament champion. So consider this a more civilized tournament.

Top Diva 2: The World Champion

John B. Marine | 12:45 AM | | | Be the first to comment!
The 2nd Tournament of Top Diva builds upon the success (and the insanity) of the first tournament. Becoming Grand Champion now goes international, and a new crop of young women around the world would contest for unworldly fame. This tournament will see the champion stake her claim as World Champion, and she will be treated like royalty. In fact, she will take residence of her own mansion in a locale different from the first tournament... how does Monte Carlo sound?

This blog post continues my Top Diva series with a look at the second tournament.

Now for a look at the story of this tournament. Read on, enthused ones...

Top Diva 2 Story.

Upon the success of the first tournament, a second tournament was established. This time, the field would be increased from eight finalists to ten. The same ultimate goal of "unworldly fame" was the grand prize. But this time, the winner would move into a new mansion not in San Francisco, but Monte Carlo, Monaco. She even would become an honorary guest of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.

Lost in the midst of this second tournament was all the calamity that ensued outside of the tournament- namely with the violence and the factions. Things became more civilized as the tournament would now be played out in various stops worldwide. There is much less faction violence and faction involvement in this story compared to the previous one. Mostly some unruly young women somewhat tried to involve themselves.

Top Diva 2: Characters.

• Felicia Falls - a recording artist and horse rider from Philadelphia, PA, USA.
• Darlene Espinoza - lawyer turned model from San Antonio, TX, USA.
• Cherry Nguyen - a race car driver and model from Saigon, Vietnam.
• Vivianna Vega - a college student from Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands.
• Bethany Hendricks - an acoustic guitarist from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
• Maria Estrella - a telenovela actress and singer from Mexico City, Mexico.
• Rumiko - a hip-hop dancer from Yokohama, Japan.
• Odessa Hutchins - a country-pop singer from Odessa, TX, USA.
• Gupta Sandahar - a belly dancer and aspiring Bollywood actress from Mumbai, India.
• Violet Ortega - a college student from Richmond, VA, USA.

Two non-finalists from this tournament have their own interest in challenging the eventual tournament champion. Ayanna (nicknamed "Vanilla") and Tanya (nicknamed "Chocolate,") these best friends plan to challenge the champion of Season Two together. The Top Diva 2nd Tournament Champion must defeat BOTH Vanilla and Chocolate to be declared a true champion.

Top Diva 2: Other Characters.

"Top Diva 2" was never really completed. So rather than a proper set of characters, I had a whole bunch of extra characters in mind that I may or may not feature among the various Top Diva 2 set. Even one of the go-go dancers from Candy Love's go-go dancing team was listed as a finalist in the 2nd Tournament. Some of these extra characters are mostly just non-major characters that simply got in the way of some of the various finalists but were mostly inconsequential to the actual storyline.

And that's the Second Tournament of Top Diva.

Top Diva

John B. Marine | 12:23 AM | | | Be the first to comment!
(UPDATED: November 25, 2014)

I am pleased to finally showcase one of my unique ideas or series! A concept I had in mind back in 2008 was called "Top Diva"- an all-female fighting tournament. It was a game concept I had long ago. I had drawn one picture of one character from the series, but other than that, I never formally introduced this concept... until now. What you are about to read here represents this concept I had. I'll share with you characters and some insight on this entire deal.

NOTE: As part of this initial blog post, only information on the storyline and a brief introduction to some of the various characters will be provided. Edits to this post may include more pictures and more content.

Content produced would be (and could be) featured in individual blog posts.

About the Label: "Top Diva"

Posts in this series relate to my "Top Diva" story. This was a fighting game concept I had stemming back to about 2008. The fighting game never materialized. Despite this, there is still a good amount of story to be told with this title. All posts relating to this original series will be featured in posts under the "Top Diva" label.

Basic Information:

Suggested Audience: Teenagers and older

Descriptors: Mild Language, Mild Sexual Content, Suggestive Themes, Violence

--- Top Diva: Stories and Characters ---

Because I had many different layers of ideas, this garnered a number of different stories. You are now learning the storylines to each concept I thought of. Elements from this blog post may show up in future posts with more detailed content.

Here is a look at the main characters. This is conceptual artwork that may or may not represent any sort of final product or serious product:

Top Diva: Basic Story.

In the Summer of 2008, a new reality TV fighting tournament was created by Tommy Kenny Owens (also known as TKO), a former mixed-martial arts (MMA) champion. Rather than market up-and-coming male fighters, he decided to devote a tournament to female contenders, namely with the success of his sister. The championship would be a fighting showcase while also being a melting pot of various cultures and personalities. Only eight of the most unique women between the ages of 18 and 30 competed among themselves for the honor of "Top Diva." The winner of this tournament would achieve "unworldly fame." This "unworldly fame" comes in the form of a beautiful mansion in San Francisco, CA, USA. She would win over a million dollars, a luxury car and a sports car in her favorite color, and of course... the honor of "Top Diva."

Separate tournaments were held worldwide for various women to qualify for the tournament. Those who qualified successfully would compete in New York City to eventually determine eight finalists. Those eight finalists would be invited to compete in the Top Diva tournament in Los Angeles. The tournament allowed for each finalist to compete against the other finalists. Losing a match didn't exactly signal elimination. Instead, eliminations were based on performance. Those who performed the poorest in their battles would be eliminated. The finale will pit the two finest of the Top Diva contenders until one reigned supreme to become Top Diva.

Top Diva: Finalist Characters.

After all the qualifying, eight finalists emerged as the best of the best:

• A.J. Garcia - a college student from Manhattan, NY, USA.
• Candy Love - a go-go dancer from Houston, TX, USA.
• Lydia Odelia Vasquez Escobar (LOVE) - a rhumba instructor and fitness freak from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
• Suzie LeMarie - a college student and aspiring fashion designer from Paris, France.
• Sandy Gonzales - a lead guitarist and vocalist of an all-girl rock band from Anaheim, CA, USA.
• Tomomi Tsuchiya - a college student and softball player from Tokyo, Japan.
• Keisha "Crazy Legs" Kirkpatrick - a recording artist and dancer from Atlanta, GA, USA.
• Marisol Castillo - a party girl from Ibiza, Spain.

Top Diva: Other Characters.

While the finalists were proud to see their efforts result in being part of this fighting tournament, the non-finalists shared their experiences with friends and family while enjoying their experiences. Many of the women who competed in the qualifiers went back to life as usual; some others felt jealous that they didn't get to be among the eight finalists. An underground movement was established with a series of factions designed specifically to cause enough chaos to intimidate the eight finalists and sabotage the Top Diva tournament. One non-finalist, named Carmel Henderson, became extremely jealous and invested her own interest in going to Los Angeles to sabotage the tournament. Carmel's intentions were to personally challenge the winner of the Top Diva tournament... along with the help of her own faction for backup.

One other non-finalist is aware of the dark plot set up by Carmel Henderson, and she will stop at nothing to bring Carmel to justice and foil her plot. This other non-finalist, Buttercup Bonnet, is a private investigator looking to blow the plot wide open.

When the finalists for Top Diva arrive in Los Angeles to their campus, they are greeted by a woman named Grandmaster Dolores. She teaches the young finalists some lessons in life and in fighting.

Another aspect of the original Top Diva story was in certain boss characters with their own personalities and agendas in sabotaging the Top Diva tournament. Some of the different individual boss-type characters are mostly hired henchwomen of Carmel to aid in sabotaging the tournament.

There were even a few bonus characters that did not play any role in the storyline. I basically came up with a few unique and oddball characters for fun. Maybe they will be featured in the future here in my creative works blog.

In future edits, there will be added material linking you to various aspects of each of the characters. There may also be added pictures to help add to the appeal of this story. That concludes this post on Top Diva.

From the initial blog post, there will be more material regarding this story and this series. That even includes various edits to showcase many of the individual characters. I hope you get to enjoy this deal I've put together. Thank you for reading!

Precious Cargo

John B. Marine | 9:43 PM | | Be the first to comment!
This short story I created involves two teenagers who love each other dearly. For as much as they love each other, one night takes an unusual turn and leads to something that will haunt the two for the rest of their lives- the girl's pregnancy. The lives of two teenagers will change forever thanks to one certain moment where the teen girl is carrying... precious cargo.

Welcome to "John's Creative Space" and my first real attempt at a short story! I am NOT a good formal writer. You are going to see a number of errors in formal writing. Despite this, I will still tell the story as best as I can, to the best of my ability, with the skills I have in story telling.

Information on This Story...

Suggested Audience: Teenagers and older
Concerns: Mild Language, Sexual References

--- Precious Cargo ---

Precious Cargo
^ "Precious Cargo" - a not-so-nice short story about two teenagers in love... and one bearing precious cargo.

This is a story about two teenagers in love. Both of them are 16 years old and are High School Juniors. The story mostly centers around Alissa Fletcher and her boyfriend Sherman Thorpe. These two have known each other since the Sixth Grade and have been friends for a long time. They have done everything from help each other out in school to having fun at the park and in various other fun settings. It was only recently that the two have really fallen in love to the point of considering marriage. Of course, both Alissa and Sherman would rather go through High School and worry about marriage later in their lives.

Even though they want to get married later in their lives, there was a fateful moment that would change the lives of both Alissa and Sherman. One Saturday night, Sherman and Alissa went on a dinner date. The two had fun with their dinner date. Sherman and Alissa would later go to a bowling alley. At a climax of the two having fun, something psychologically sparked between Alissa and Sherman was triggered to where the two became really close to one another while they were having fun together. In a secluded portion of the bowling alley, Sherman and Alissa became romantically engaged to the point of sex. It began with a kiss... and continued gradually towards intercourse. These two innocent, mild-mannered High School students instantly developed romantic interest in one another. The two tried to be as discreet as possible though they were madly in love. Sherman then drove Alissa back to her house as the two separated to study for their classes.

Three to four weeks have now passed...

Alissa began to feel "funny." One thing she became fearful of is being pregnant. That romantic trigger from that fateful weekend may have led to Alissa becoming pregnant. As much as Alissa loves Sherman, and as much as she wants to eventually spend the rest of her life with him, she feels uneasy and nearly laments giving into having intercourse with Sherman. Should Alissa have said no to sex? Should she have snapped out of that trigger to go no further than that kiss? A by-product of her hiding her potential pregnancy was her grades slipping. Having her mind focused more on her her health instead of her schoolwork has led Alissa to perform poorly. She even couldn't perform certain activities during Physical Education class. Fearing she made the biggest mistake of her young life, Alissa decided not to tell anyone that she might be pregnant. That is... until she eventually went to the school nurse. Once she told her story to the nurse, the school nurse called Alissa's parents to discuss the matter. Alissa's father, Steve, became both concerned and furious. Steve and Alissa had a talk to where he became absolutely furious about how Alissa and Sherman engaged in sex and kept everything as discreet as possible. Alissa's mother, Felicia, later came home and heard Steve shouting violently and went immediately to Alissa's room. Steve later told Felicia about the pregnancy situation. It was now both Steve and Felicia disgusted and angered at their daughter Alissa.

What about Sherman? How is he faring in this situation?

Sherman began to show concern for Alissa once he noted that Alissa has not been herself lately since that awkward night of passion. He initially began feeling good that he and Alissa were able to celebrate their love in a passionate way. He found his soul mate and the one who completes him. However, Sherman was not expecting that he could have possibly fathered an unexpected child. That night of passion- even if it was a completely awkward moment- was enough to distract Sherman from his free spirit. His world really turned upside down when Steve called Sherman's mother and father to have a discussion. Sherman's father, David, was upset over him having sex with Alissa. His mother, Alice, also couldn't believe her son having sex with his girlfriend at such a young age.

The alliance between Alissa's parents and Sherman's parents have resulted in both sides becoming angry at their respective children. Outside of punishment for both Alissa and Sherman, the families have at least agreed to go no further and take no further action until a proper pregnancy test was completed.

Alissa and her family visits her family doctor that weekend. Sherman and his family went to the same doctor's office for the possible life-changing results.

Alissa's family discussed with their family doctor about her possible pregnancy. After being asked a number of questions, Alissa became increasingly nervous after everything she has gone through the past few weeks and days. Alissa even remembered a television documentary she watched with the theme of "babies having babies." When she saw that documentary, she was compelled and stunned at how even young teenagers could have their lives changed forever by introducing a child into the world at such young ages. How ironic must it be for a teenage girl stunned at how it is possible to be pregnant at a young age in giving birth... to now have CONTRIBUTED to a statistic of teen pregnancy instead of avoiding becoming a statistic?

Alissa can only hope she isn't pregnant so that she can return to living to the lives most average 16-year old teenage girls live. The pain would be overbearing if she finds out she is indeed pregnant. All Allisa can do is wait for the results of her pregnancy test. What has crossed her mind were all of the various criticism peers will give her and the further tongue lashing her family will give her. She also feels Sherman is confident enough to become a faithful father if the pregnancy test returns positive... or she at least feels Sherman would love to be a father. She feels in her heart that Sherman will be a loving father and will only bring the two lovebirds even closer if the test results confirm Alissa is pregnant.

Here comes the pregnancy test results...

As the results came in, both Alissa and Sherman's respective parents awaited the news. The doctor came out and looked to Alissa's family and said, "after the test results, we can confirm that Alissa... is pregnant." Both families were stunned to learn that one awkward night together between Alissa and Sherman has led to Sherman fathering a baby. Steve and Felicia felt queasy while David and Alice were equally distraught. Both families seemed to want to kill or savagely attack their respective children over this entire matter. However, they know Alissa and Sherman brought this on themselves and decided to do next to nothing to console and comfort the soon-to-be parents. The doctor saw the pain on the faces of the respective mothers and fathers of Alissa and Sherman and decided to talk with the parents in private. The doctor did everything he could to try to calm down the teens' respective parents and make the parents think more rationally about this situation rather than try to incite violence or further psychologically chew out Alissa and Sherman.

Alissa did not know how to feel. She looked at Sherman with loving interest, but Sherman did not know whether to feel happy or upset. Alissa herself wasn't sure to feel happy to become a mother or upset her life as an average teenage girl has come to an end. All it took was one night to completely change the lives of both Alissa and Sherman. After a little thought, Alissa looked to Sherman and smiled. Sherman looked at Alissa and could not contain himself. Thinking that Sherman would be proud to become a father, Alissa's awkward smile quickly turned into fear when she saw Sherman feeling queasy himself. Neither teen was at greater fault- both of them brought this issue on themselves, and both are paying the price. It was then no wonder that both Alissa and Sherman hugged each other crying. The parents eventually came back into the doctor's room after the parents had their lengthy talk with the doctor. When the parents saw Alissa and Sherman hugging each other crying, they checked to see if Alissa and Sherman were alright. This was a much different tone for the parents of their teenage parents-to-be compared to when the news was first given of Alissa's pregnancy. The doctor later wanted to talk with Alissa and Sherman once the two got their sanity back. It was extended duty for the doctor as he offered his calming advice to both Allisa and Sherman after already offering advice to their parents.

Alissa and Sherman both thought about the entire situation differently since learning of Alissa's pregnancy and after being given some counseling from the family doctor. Sherman began to want to take responsibility in becoming a father. He knows a number of his friends will look at him as "the man" for getting a girl pregnant. However, he knows he now has much greater responsibilities and has to attend to a different calling. Sherman didn't let his fatherhood plans get to his head and eventually grew more mature than he has ever been.

At this point of her life, Alissa has experienced a great deal of pain in one day than she has ever experienced all of her young life. Alissa feels she is at a mid-life crisis at only the age of 16. She is at a crossroads in her life and needs to make a decision. Should she continue to become a mother and live out the extent of her pregnancy, or seek abortion to return to her normal life and not have to deal with bringing life into the world at a fairly young age? Whatever decision she makes will forever change the lives of herself and Sherman. Alissa really needs some help...

--- Extra Commentary on "Precious Cargo" ---

My story regarding Alissa and Sherman were mostly inspired by some actual experiences. There were two moments when I saw a girl in High School who was pregnant. One was pregnant in the school I first attended. One other girl already had her child... and was about my age at the time. One of my first true short stories was a bit tough for me to pick out because I don't usually lean towards touchy topics like certain love and sex topics.

Issues Related to This Story.

Teen pregnancy and abortion are two issues mentioned. Many people have their thoughts in regards to both issues. Especially abortion is a hot-button issue. I didn't go into deeper detail in regards to intimacy since I wanted to keep this mostly friendly as possible.

Why the Art to This Story?

I actually intended to make an animation for this story you read, and I was considering trying to make an animation for this story. Maybe in the future, you'll see a video animation of mine acting out some of the key points of this story. You'll see it here in this blog post in an edit if indeed I do create an animation.

Of course... the models were created using MagicaVoxel.

Formula Prototype

John B. Marine | 10:24 PM | Be the first to comment!
Formula 1 and sportscar racing- two of the most sophisticated racing disciplines in all of motorsport. This unique idea I had conceptualized is the case of answering questions never asked. It also is a unique racing story of something realistic in racing. What would happen if you could combine both the intensity of Formula 1 and the grueling team-based survival games of sportscar racing with cars that combine elements of both forms of racing? You get the unique Formula Prototype! This blog post introduces you to a most unusual motorsports concept I had in mind.

NOTE: This initial blog post only contains storyline data. This post may be updated with art content to compliment the story. Check for updates.

--- Formula Prototype ---

This section contains a look into the main storyline and some of the different elements of the storyline.

Inspirations.

Here are some of my inspirations for this storyline and some of the items involved:

• Formula 1 racing
• sportscar racing
the BAC Mono
• the DW12 IndyCar
• Red Bull X prototypes (like the Red Bull X cars in Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6)

The Story/Background.

One day, there was a debate as to which is the better form of racing- Formula 1 or sportscar racing. Some proclaimed F1 was better with sophisticated technology and exceptional driving talent on some of the world's most challenging courses in lovely locales. Sportscar racing fans argued that sportscar racers are under greatly challenging conditions in long races. Sportscar racing fans even argued that sportscar racing even exemplifies the team aspect more than Formula 1 does. The debate among racing fans would persist in cyberspace for a good while.

Despite the intensity of this argument, the end result was that both forms of racing were amazing in their respective rights. That ended the online arguments for quite some time. This ultimate decision to this debate didn't sit too well with some people, however. So while some people felt F1 and sportscar racing needed to battle each other head-on to determine the better of the two categories of racing, a unique idea was once pitched- give both F1 fans and sportscar racing fans the best of both worlds! Offer the sophistication and drama of Formula 1 races with the pure performance and grueling intensity of sportscar racing. Provide the best of these worlds with racing machines that combined the best aspects of Formula 1 race cars along with the best aspects of sportscar racing prototypes. Build cars that combined both features while also merging the two forms of racing into a unique series. You could even say these can be like Formula 1 race cars with lights and bodywork similar to most modern open-top sportscar racing prototypes.

The marriage of both of these categories of motorsport would become a unique new series. It would be a racing series that will be its own World Championship of racing goodness featuring two of the toughest forms of racing. This series would come to be known as...

Formula Prototype!

Upon the announcement of this concept, some of the world's finest racing teams agreed to partake in this series by building race cars up to the specifications of Formula Prototype while also finding some of the finest racing drivers in the world to push these cars (and themselves) to the limit in becoming World Champion and even Constructors' Champion of Formula Prototype. World-renowned manufacturers, illustrious racing constructors, and even a handful of underdog and independent teams all put together money and resources to become champion of this series that merges F1 racing and sportscar racing.

Only those who wanted the challenge and drama of Formula 1 racing with the intensity and scary performance of sportscar racing need only apply. Race constructors were challenged to build race cars that combined the sophistication of Formula 1 with the intense performance and durability of sportscar racing prototypes. Races could last as long as an F1 Grand Prix and as long as some of the greatest sportscar racing endurances. Drivers have to endure for the length of a standard F1 Grand Prix while also having to make driver changes. Events take place around the world with a combination of typical F1 Grands Prix and usual sportscar racing endurances. Unlike in sportscar racing where there are prototypes and GT cars, Formula Prototype races feature ONLY the main Formula Prototype machines and no other racing machines on the track.

Who will win this Formula Prototype World Championship featuring these unique racing machines and drivers talented enough to pilot them? Only time will tell...

And that is the story of Formula Prototype.

--- Formula Prototype: Extra Commentary ---

As much as I would like to maybe make this about something completely futuristic, this concept is basically based on today's realm of Formula 1 and sportscar racing. I didn't come up with "Formula Prototype" on something futuristic, like F-Zero, Xtreme G, WipEout, Quantum Redshift, Fatal Inertia, or any other futuristic racing environment. Even the various venues are meant to be current. So nothing along the lines of multi-lane roads, stunt loops, anti-gravity roads, or anything like that are part of Formula Prototype. And also, NOTHING in the way of cars equipped with weapons or any sort of vehicular combat as part of Formula Prototype. This concept is only futuristic in the sense that elements of today's F1 racing and today's sportscar racing machines. To give you an idea, think of a modern F1 car with all of its sophistication with the technology and the performance and sophistication of some of today's sportscar racing machines like the Audi R18 e-Tron Quattro or the Toyota TS040 Hybrid. This was meant to be a conceptual, yet realistic form of racing. What would be surreal is if something like this actually comes across in our lifetime and that we're talking about real races here.

In case you're wondering, the head honcho and sanctioning body behind this Formula Prototype concept I put together are supposed to be a parody of Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone and a parody of the FIA (Federacion International d' Automobile).

That is my little story here.
